A renowned educator, A/Prof Kow has not only taught and mentored many batches of medical students, but has contributed widely to the field of surgery, particularly in general surgery, hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation. As a practicing surgeon at the Division of Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery, NUH, A/Prof Kow is a pioneer of many advanced surgical techniques in pancreatic surgery, liver surgery and biliary surgery. A/Prof Kow obtained his Master of Medicine (Surgery), Master of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Ireland diplomas in 2005 and subsequently, completed his advanced surgical training in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. In 2009, he obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (General Surgery) in Hong Kong. He was also accorded Specialist accreditation in General Surgery by Ministry of Health, Singapore in the same year.

He then completed fellowship training at Liverpool Hospital, Sydney, Australia and stereotactic fellowship at the Ottawa Hospital Cyberknife Centre. He now serves as a Senior Consultant Radiation Oncologist at the National University Cancer Institute Singapore. His clinical and research interests are aligned in neuro-oncology, gastrointestinal oncology and high-precision treatments for the oligometastatic state. He is an active researcher with over 90 peer-reviewed publications and is the PI for several ongoing prospective studies.

She has been involved in varied capacities to create cancer awareness in India be it through cancer screening camps in various states to the initial setting up of cancer centers in the private or public sector to enabling protocols and procedures for safe care of patients. She is deeply involved with charities like CanSupport and has even set up a charity New India Cancer Charity Initiative or NICCI.

Dr Ming-Huang Chen is the Director of the Division of Medical Oncology in the Department of Oncology at Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taiwan. He is also the secretary general of Taiwan Oncology Society. With over 15 years of extensive clinical experience, he specializes in gastrointestinal tumors (esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, biliary tract cancer, and pancreatic cancer), and neuroendocrine tumors. He is also a clinical expert in the application of precision medicine and immunotherapy in cancer treatment. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Chen has a wealth of experience in investigator initiated trials (IIT) and publications. He actively contributes to teaching as a professor at National Yang-Ming Chiao- Tung University. He is widely recognized as an oncology precision expert and is frequently invited to share his expertise.

Chiun-Sheng Huang is the professor and chairman of Department of Surgery at the National Taiwan University Hospital and National Taiwan University College of Medicine. He is also the director of Breast Care Center at the National Taiwan University Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan. Dr Huang has dedicated his career to the prevention and treatment of breast cancer. His areas of research include: ultrasound in breast cancer screening and axillary staging; computer-aided diagnosis and detection of breast ultrasound; single nucleotide polymorphism and circulating tumor DNA as susceptibility and prognostic factor for breast cancer; and development of new regimens and biomarkers using neoadjuvant therapy.

Dr Choo Su Pin is a medical oncologist who specializes in gastrointestinal cancers including colorectal, upper gastrointestinal, pancreas, hepatobiliary, peritoneal, and anal cancers. She is also a visiting consultant at the National Cancer Centre, Singapore and Adjunct Associate Professor, Singhealth Duke-NUS Oncology Academic Clinic Programme, Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore. She was the Deputy Head of the Division of Medical Oncology prior to private practice and Chief of the Gastrointestinal Cancer Department from 2012 to 2018. Dr Choo graduated from the University of Nottingham Medical School, UK before returning to Singapore. She has fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians, UK and the Academy Of Medicine, Singapore and was trained in medical oncology at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS). She was one of the few overseas participants selected to participate in the AACR/ASCO Methods in Cancer Research Workshop, held in Vail in 2006. She also did a research fellowship at the University of California San Francisco where she worked on clinical trials for gastrointestinal cancers and undertook laboratory research on understanding neuroendocrine tumours. In 2011, Dr Choo obtained a SMU-Singhealth Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management and Leadership. For her clinical care of patients, she received the Gold Excellent Service Award. She continues to use her experience in clinical research and currently serves as Deputy Chair of the Singhealth Centralised Institutional Review Board B which overseas research studies in oncology.

Dr David Ng completed his medical studies in 1990 and post-graduate medical training in Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine, becoming Member in the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, UK) in 1996, Fellow of the Academy of Medicine in Nuclear Medicine (FAMS) in 1999 and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP, Edinburgh) in 2012. He completed an Fellowship in Nuclear Medicine and Clinical PET Imaging at the Clinical PET Centre, Guy’s, St Thomas’ and Kings’ Hospital, University of London and in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA. He is currently Senior Consultant and immediate past Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (2014-2023), Singapore General Hospital, Clinical Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and Deputy Chair of Singhealth DUKE-NUS Radiological Sciences Academic Clinical Program (ACP) and Clinical Senior Lecturer with the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He was immediate past and Founding President of the Nuclear Medicine Society (Singapore) (2010-2020) and past Chair of the Chapter of Nuclear Medicine in the College of Radiologists, Singapore. He chairs and contributes to several committees under the Ministry of Health/National Environment Agency relating to health-care policies pertaining to Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Issues. His field of sub-expertise is in the treatment of thyroid cancers, radioimmunotherapy, radioembolization and other radionuclide theranostics, as well as PET/CT imaging, molecular diagnostic techniques and physiological mathematical modelling and collaborated with various other researchers and clinicians, with over 110 papers and 10 book chapters, including in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine, International Journal of Radiation Oncology Physics, Clinical Nuclear Medicine. He has given talks and lectures at regional and international conferences, particularly in nuclear theranostics and partition modelling of Y90 microspheres therapy.

His research focus involves integrating basic science and translational models in devising new therapy for gastrointestinal malignancies. He is also involved in multiple ongoing trials focusing mainly on gastrointestinal cancers and phase 1 efforts. Dr Tai is a Clinical Associate Professor in Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore and faculty for Duke-NUS Fundamental of Clinical Practice Course. He is also a clinical lecturer at Yong Yoo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore. He has participated actively in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical teachings.

Dr Eileen Poon is presently a Consultant Medical Oncologist at National Cancer Centre Singapore. Dr Poon obtained her medical degree from National University of Singapore in 2007. She subsequently completed her postgraduate internal medicine in National University of Singapore and did her postgraduate residency training in Medical Oncology. She also serves as the Vice President for Singapore Society of Oncology (SSO). She has a special interest in Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology (AYAO), which she has initiated the AYAO support group in NCCS in 2017. She also spearheaded a AYA team in NCCS to enhance the cancer care of AYA. Besides the clinical aspect, Dr Poon is keen to become an inspiring clinical educator too who is able to individualise teaching strategies to help each young doctor reach their full potential as she believes everyone learns differently with their own needs. Dr Poon has met wonderful inspiring mentors in her short career, and she recognize the importance of educating our younger doctors in order for not just science to be handed over, but also good doctoring. This is a skillset which she feels is increasingly underrated, especially with all the technology advancement.

She is currently pursuing a PhD at the National University of Singapore under the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) research training fellowship award. Dr Samol holds a faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Singapore, as well as an Assistant Professor of Oncology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, USA. He treats patients with all types of solid cancers and lymphoid neoplasms. He has a particular interest in Thoracic Cancers, Gastrointestinal Cancers (including HIPEC), Head & Neck Cancers, Sarcoma, and Lymphoma.

Dr. Wong Kar Yong is a General Surgeon currently practising in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. His specialty interest is in colorectal cancer surgery, especially with the use of minimal invasive and robotic surgery. Dr. Wong specialises in minimal invasive colorectal cancer surgery. Majority of his colorectal surgeries were performed either via laparoscopically (key-hole) or robotically. He is proficient in advanced colorectal procedures such as extended lymph node dissection surgery in advanced colorectal cancer, transanal endoscopic microsurgery and colonic stenting. Besides cancer surgery, Dr. Wong is also experienced in management of benign coloproctology diseases and regularly performs surgery for haemorrhoids, anal fistula, anal fissure, perianal abscess etc. He is also an experienced endoscopist and has performed large numbers of therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy on patients with good outcome

He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (Clinical Oncology) in 2005 and attained his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (UK) before admission to the UK General Medical Council Specialist Register in 2006. He was awarded a one-year Clinical Research Fellowship to the Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Toronto, Canada in mid-2006. He returned to Malaysia in 2007 and served at the National University of Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC) as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist for 5 years before joining private practice in 2012. He has served on various national oncology committees, published in peer-reviewed journals as well as participated in numerous clinical trials, cancer advisory boards, and expert panels.

During her training, she was awarded multiple scholar training awards besides ASCO merit awards. Dr Shaheenah has served as an editorial fellow at the New England Journal of Medicine and has an MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. She has over 100 papers to her credit including 50 peer review original articles, 30 review articles, and 12 book chapters. Having served as a reviewer for multiple journals including the Journal of Clinical Oncology she is currently leading the oncology clinical trials program at Mediclinic City Hospital, Dubai. She also serves as President of Excellence in Oncology Care (EIOC) annual congress held in Dubai and is Co-Chair of the Asia Pacific Breast Cancer Summit (APBCS), Asia Pacific Gastrointestinal Cancer Summit (APGCS) ,the international BRCA forum (iBRCAf) and Young Women Forum (YWF) from over a decade.

Professor Shailesh V. Shrikhande is Deputy Director of Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. He is also Chief of Cancer Surgery and GI & HPB Surgical Service. He is one of the few surgeons worldwide to have successfully performed over 1200 Whipple operations. He has conducted over 60 live Operative teaching demonstrations of pancreatic, gastric, colorectal and gall bladder cancer surgeries across India. He is the Past President of the Indian Chapter of International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA). He is also the President of the Asia Pacific Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (A-PHPBA) and also Secretary General Elect of the IHPBA. In recognition of his work on digestive cancer surgery in India, he was awarded Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2014 (FRCS – Ad Eundem). In 2021, he was awarded Honorary Fellowship of American Surgical Association (ASA). He is the first Indian cancer surgeon and only the second Indian ever to receive this prestigious honour in the last 144 years of the world oldest surgical association.

He was later employed as Specialist Registrar and Clinical Research Fellow at Royal Marsden Hospital, London. He also worked as a visiting faculty in Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Centre, Harvard Medical School, Boston in 2010. He was conferred the Doctor of Medicine from the University of Hong Kong in 2012. His main research interests are gastrointestinal oncology, early phase clinical trials and translational research. He pioneered Hong Kong Liver Cancer classification and is one of the global pioneer in a drug development program in hepatocellular carcinoma. He had published more than 100 peer-review publications with articles in various leading oncology journals, namely Lancet, Lancet Oncology, Cell Stem Cell, Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Clinical Cancer Research. He had also delivered more than 150 invited regional and international lectures. He currently serves as associate editor and the editorial board members of many international peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Toh is Senior Consultant and Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Strategic Partnerships), Division of Medical Oncology, National Cancer Centre Singapore. He graduated from the University of London, UK with an intercalated Bachelor of Science in ‘Infection and Immunity’ from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School and qualified as a medical doctor from University of Cambridge, UK. Dr Toh obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in 2003. He received his medical oncology fellowship training at the Singapore General Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston USA, and at the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, USA. He is also an alumni at the Harvard Business School General Management Program. Dr Toh is a recipient of the National Senior Clinician Scientist Award in 2017 and National Medical Excellence Award (NMEA) in 2018 for his pioneering work in cell and immunotherapy for cancer. He leads the NMRC LCG VICTORY (Virus-Induced Cancers Translational Oncology and immunologY) grant. As an Associate Professor and College Master at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, Dr Toh is actively involved in medical education and training. He is the founding Chairman of the Singapore Society of Oncology Cancer Immunotherapy Consortium, co-founder of the Asia Pacific Gastroenterology Cancer Summit (APGCS), and faculty in the Cancer Immunology for the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO). Dr Toh has published over 132 peer review journal papers to date.

Dr Yong Wei Peng obtained his medical degree and postgraduate training in University of Aberdeen, Scotland. After completing an oncology fellowship at the National University Hospital, he was awarded the A*star international clinical pharmacology fellowship at the University of Chicago. Upon his return to Singapore, he was awarded a three-year Investigatorship Award under the Clinician Scientist Award to further his research into personalized therapy. Dr Yong leads the therapeutic arm (NUH module) of the Singapore Gastric Cancer Consortium. The consortium received the prestigious five-year Translational Clinical Research grant in 2007. He is also the Chairman of the National Healthcare Group Domain-Specific Ethics Review Board. His clinical interest is in gastrointestinal cancers and his research interests are pharmacogenetics and epigenetics in cancer.

Dr. Su completed his medical education at Kaohsiung Medical University in 2012, obtained board certification in Oncology in 2019, and earned his Ph.D. at National Cheng Kung University in 2023. He currently holds the position of Assistant Investigator at the National Health Research Institutes and serves as a physician at National Cheng Kung University Hospital. Dr. Su's primary research focuses on clinical trials, as well as next-generation sequencing for gastrointestinal cancers. He has been honored with the Young Investigator Award from the Japanese Society of Medical Oncology (JSMO) in 2022, 2023, and 2024, and the Best Poster Award from the Taiwan Joint Cancer Conference (TJCC) in 2022 and 2023. Dr. Su has published over 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals, including the International Journal of Surgery, the British Journal of Cancer, and the Journal of Biomedical Science.
